HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid provides the necessary skills required to confidently coordinate, manage and instruct other first aiders across a range of complex situations – as well as within community and workplace environments. The course comprises pre-course learning plus face-to-face training and assessment.

Outline
* DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines
* Complete 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR as an individual and during a two rescuer procedure on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
* Responded appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
* Managed the unconscious breathing casualty
* Followed the prompts of a Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
* Responded to at least three simulated first aid scenarios contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting, including:
* Demonstrated safe manual handling techniques
* Conducted a visual and verbal secondary survey assessment of the casualty
* Assessed vital signs (respirations, pulse and temperature)
* Communicated effectively with a first aid team providing direction and coordination of other first aiders
* Basic triage for multiple casualties
* Post-incident debrief and evaluation
* Applied first aid procedures for the following:
* Anaphylaxis
* Bleeding control
* Choking and airway obstruction
* Conducted a basic triage for multiple casualty incident
* Envenomation (using pressure immobilisation)
* Fractures, sprains and strains (using arm slings, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation principles)
* Head, neck and spinal injuries (using immobilisation principles)
* Emergency Childbirth
* Respiratory distress – including asthma
* Seizures
* Shock
Assessment Methods

* Completion of an online component prior to the face to face component.
* 2min of CPR on an Adult and infant manikin
* Use of Defibrillator
* Multiple scenarios incorporating practical treatment of various injuries

Recertification
* WorkCover NSW and the Australian Resuscitation council recommends CPR training be conducted annually. Check with your industry’s governing body to determine your CPR Recertification requirements.
Duration
8 hours face to face training.
Participants are required to complete an online component prior to face to face training.
Prerequisites
* There are no prerequisites for this HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Award Issued
* Successful participants will receive the following statement of attainments;
* HLTAID009 Provide CPR
* HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
* HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid.

Transfer Of Bookings:

Transfers are available prior to the commencement date. A transfer to another course will be issued if we receive a written request 5 business days prior to your nominated course commencement date. If a transfer is made less than 5 days prior to the course commencement date, a $22.00 administration fee will apply. If a written request is not received within 48 hours of the course commencement date, the participant will forfeit 100% of the course fee.

Refunds:

A refund is given if a written request is received 5 days prior to the scheduled course commencement date and an administration fee of $22.00 (GST included) will be incurred. All refund requests to be emailed to certificates@southcoastfirstaid.com.au Refunds will be issued within 5 days of receiving the cancellation documentation. If a written request is not received within 5 days of the course commencement date, the participant will forfeit 100% of the course fee.

Schedule Changes:

Events Beyond Our Control: we may need to cancel or reschedule training courses or services due to any event beyond our reasonable control. Healthcorp will endeavour to offer an alternate date for your course however, in the event that the alternate date is not suitable, a full refund of the course fee will be provided.

 

* It is a requirement of the Unit of Competency that the CPR on the adult manikins must be performed kneeling on the ground, no exceptions. Participants are advised to wear comfortable casual attire.
